Experience

1988 to Present : Consulting Piping Engineering, Calgary and Vancouver

Present Piping engineering services for operating facilities. Projects include refineries, pulp mills, pipelines, OSB plants, power generation, MTBE plants, gas plants, fertilizer, compressor station and sulphuric and facilities. Vibration analysis for piping systems.

Stress analysis and pipe support designs for boiler steam piping, turbo-expander, cryogenic piping, reformer piping, reactor piping, reciprocating and centrifugal compressor piping, aerial cooler, centrifugal pump piping, flare and sulphur plant piping. Structural design in pipe bridges, equipment foundations, pipe supports, failure analysis.

Preparing VALVE purchase specifications, specifying valves and specialty items. Performing bid evaluations Stauffers Chemical Company projects, Marsulex and Saferco Nitrogen Fertilizer Complex. Handled bugets of 20,000 manhours.

1985 to 1988 : The SNC/FW Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Lead Project Piping Engineer

• Responsible for the supervision and coordination of the Piping Engineering Group. Responsibilities cover all aspects of piping engineering including planning and scheduling piping engineering work, stress analysis, specifications, material, bulk take-off, piping mechanical and computer applications.
• Highlights include the successful bid and subsequent Project Engineering for Syncrude Piping Specification Update Project, Lead piping engineer for the Syncrude C.A.P. Hydrogen and Hydrotreater projects.
• For the Amoco Miscible Flood Phase II and III Expansions, responsible for the reciprocating compressor and pump (NGL) piping layouts, analysis, holddown and support design. Analog studies of piping systems. Field measurement of pulsation amplitudes of components and detection of sources of excessive vibration.
